Tips
- Stay informed. Be aware of your surroundings so that you are better
prepared to react should some sort of event occur.
- Avoid passing unsubstantiated information and rumors.
- Develop an emergency plan with family and friends. For instance,
make sure all phone numbers, cell phone numbers, and e-mail addresses
are up-to-date and distributed. Designate an out-of-town friend or
relative as a point of contact to relay family information should
communication become difficult.
- Cooperate with law enforcement and emergency officials.
- Take responsibility for your personal safety and well-being. Keep
emergency supplies accessible and your automobile tank full. Maintain
